SAP Technical Writer – 12 to 24 Month Contract (W2)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP Technical Writer for a 12-month W2 contract in Sacramento, CA, with the possibility of extension up to 24 months. This is a hybrid role (2–3 days onsite per week), and we are only considering California-based candidates on W2. The Technical Writer will create clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation to support a major SAP S/4HANA implementation project.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain business process documentation, user manuals, training guides, and technical specifications for SAP modules.
• Collaborate with functional consultants, developers, business analysts, and SMEs to capture and document requirements.
• Create process flow diagrams, SOPs, and visual documentation using tools such as Microsoft Visio.
• Ensure all documents meet quality, compliance, and SAP best practices standards.
• Manage document reviews, feedback incorporation, and version control.
• Support end-user training and knowledge transfer through high-quality written content.
• Contribute to overall project readiness, testing support, and system go-live documentation.

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technical Communication, or related field.
• 5–8 years of technical writing experience, including 2+ years supporting SAP projects (ECC or S/4HANA).
• Strong knowledge of SAP modules and ability to simplify technical concepts.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Visio, or other documentation tools.
• Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills.
• Must be California-based and able to work on a W2 basis (no C2C or 1099).

Preferred:

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementation projects.
• Familiarity with training development and user enablement.
• Background in regulated industries (utilities, healthcare, finance, etc.).
• Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.

Contract Details

• Duration: 12 Months (possible extension up to 24 Months) – W2 Contract
• Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid – California-based candidates only, 2–3 days onsite per week)
• Compensation: Up to $50/hour (W2)
• Schedule: Standard business hours, Monday–Friday
