Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Center Cost Manager to join our team supporting a prominent hyperscale data center client in Abilene, TX.
The successful candidate will oversee all cost management activities across the project lifecycle, ensuring projects stay within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
This role requires the candidate to be on-site throughout the week, including walking the field to verify work completion and supporting project teams directly.
Candidates should live in or near the Abilene, TX area, or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project teams throughout the entire project lifecycle from pre-construction to project closeout
- Produce accurate project cost reports including detailed analysis of project cost, estimates, master planning, operations, and benchmarking
- Develop and maintain project budgets from design concept through project completion
- Assist with change order management, including estimating, negotiating, and tracking total project costs
- Reconcile project controls data with the client’s fiscal and financial systems
- Manage payment applications and invoice processing
- Monitor project financial performance and provide cost forecasting
- Develop and present cost analysis reports to internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and project leadership to ensure financial efficiency
- Conduct field walks to verify work completion and progress
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or related field
OR - 7–10 years of cost management experience in construction, oil & gas, infrastructure, or data center projects
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of cost management principles, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Ability to read and interpret construction design documents
- Experience with cost tracking, estimating, and project financial reporting
- Experience managing change orders and contract negotiations
- Knowledge of schedule of values and resource-loaded schedules
- Proficiency with cost management software and Google Suite
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on data center or hyperscale construction projects
- Experience with Quickbase and e-Builder
- PMP or CCM certification is a plus
